i really think it's time i redesign our band's website. I mean, it's been all good and fine... but i really think that five years is a bit long for a web design. My skills have gotten a little better since then too, and i have some neat design ideas.

My question to you...

What BAND websites do you really like?
Is there something you think bands should put on the site?
Any suggestions?

Oh, have you guys seen the new Army of Robots website? It's amazing!

I think the Mercedes Benz website is the best looking site around. http://www.mbusa.com/brand/index.jsp It's pretty, functional, and I love the use of contrasting color empty space. It's not a band site, but I'm just gay for it.

KMFDM's site is ugly as shit, but it's really functional. Big buttons for TOUR and STORE. Besides for audio samples, what more do you really need than those 3?

I will always love CURVE's site. And they haven't changed it in about three years.

websites

My personal favourite is:
http://www.denalimusic.com/
For the band Denali, which if you havn't heard - they do rule, very much.
As a listner I like their website compared to many other bands websites is because it sets mood for their music very well without being over-the-top (i.e. every band website is black!). It has pretty animations but it's not overwhelming and it's simple to navigate - downside is unlike your website it doesn't have the nifty side bar - which I'd keep in the revision. As a rule however, fans perfer minimalist websites for navigation.

Don't know if that'll help but good luck.

Wumpscut has a cool website. It is clean and the color choice could be considered "fresh"

http://www.wumpscut.com/

On the other hand I do not like the covenant website, too much flash and way to busy. I hate to go to a band website and wait for all their little animations to load.
